The Opportunity:
We are seeking a strategic and analytical finance executive to lead our Strategic Finance organization. As Senior Director, Strategic Finance, you will "own" the company’s comprehensive corporate financial model and serve as the architect for our long-term financial trajectory. You will be responsible for end-to-end corporate modeling, encompassing Bookings, Revenue, OpEx, COGS, Free Cash Flow, Operating Margin, Gross Margin, ARR, Stock-Based Compensation (SBC), and company-wide bonus structures for our Annual Operating Plan (AOP), Long-Range Plan (LRP) and Investor Day.
You will lead a team of 1–2 individuals while partnering closely with Corporate Finance, Accounting, Tax, Treasury, and Investor Relations to ensure a cohesive approach to our financial strategy.  We are looking for a leader with strong analytical foundations and the professional presence necessary to engage effectively with executive leadership, including the CEO and CFO, on our most critical financial planning initiatives.
Your role:
  • Corporate Model Ownership: Build, maintain, and "own" the primary company-wide financial model, ensuring it accurately reflects all drivers of the P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow statement.
  • Strategic Planning: Lead the financial modeling and target-setting process for the Annual Operating Plan (AOP), Long-Range Plan (LRP), and Investor Day materials.
  • Quarterly Earnings & IR Support: Partner closely with Investor Relations and the CFO to prepare for the quarterly earnings process, providing the data-driven narrative and modeling required for external guidance. 
  • Target Setting: Establish top-down financial targets (e.g., Op Margin, Gross Margin, ARR) that align with the company’s strategic objectives and market expectations.
  • Executive Leadership Presence: Deliver executive-ready insights and present complex financial scenarios to the ELT, CEO, and CFO to drive informed decision-making.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with accounting, legal, and operational teams to review and provide insights into business drivers for appropriate disclosures & SEC filings. 
  • Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a high-performing team of 1–2 professionals, fostering a culture of analytical excellence and intellectual curiosity.

 

Requirements & Qualifications:
  • 15+ years of experience in Strategic Finance, Investment Banking, Equity Research, or Corporate FP&A, ideally in a high-growth SaaS or enterprise software environment.
  • Expert-level financial modeling skills with a deep understanding of complex metrics including ARR, GRR, NRR, FCF, and Stock-Based Compensation.; advanced Excel required, Adaptive & Tableau experience a plus.
  • Strong ability to influence senior stakeholders, constructively challenge assumptions, and drive strategic outcomes through insight, not just data.
  • Proven ability to leverage external best practices while demonstrating the open-mindedness and intellectual curiosity to adapt them to the company's specific operating model.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to distill complex financial concepts into clear strategic narratives for the ELT.
  • Demonstrated resilience and stamina to thrive in a fast-paced, high-stakes, and complex global environment.
  • MBA or similar advanced degree/certification preferred.

Work Arrangement: Hybrid or In-Office
This role can be remote or in a hybrid capacity.  Should the role be within 50 miles of a Nutanix office, it will require coming into an office a minimum of 3 days per week. Additional team-specific guidance and norms will be provided by your manager. 

 

FOR US - The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between USD $  and USD $ per year.  
However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered.
